Dan grew up in a suburb of Syracuse and attended Jamesville Dewitt High School. Dan is a 17 year NBA veteran, in first place on the list among active players with the most seasons played in the NBA.
Dan was originally selected by the Utah Jazz in the first round (13th pick overall) of the 1981 draft out of Syracuse. Dan has seen action with Utah, Denver, Milwaukee, LA, Phoenix, Miami and is presently with the Orlando Magic. Dan has averaged 8.0 ppg and 5.2 rpg over the course of his career.
Dan is the son of New York Jewish Sports Hall of Famer, Dolph Schayes, making them the first, and only father-son team in the JSHF.”
