Biography

A graduate of Hempstead High, Bill entered Roanoke College in the fall of 1973.

While at Roanoke College, he was named to the All-American team twice (1976 HMAA & 1977 2nd AA) as outstanding lacrosse goalie. As captain, he led the team into the NCCA Division II Semi-Finals his senior year where he set an NCCA record of 30 saves in a playoff game. Since graduation he has been inducted into the Roanoke College Athletic HAll of FAme.

Bill became the starting goalie for the prominent Long Island Lacrosse Club. In his first year with the club he has lead them to the National Club Lacrosse Championship. During his 10 years playing (1978-87) career with the LILC he took them to the championship a total of 6 times. He was named a Club All-Star numerous times, but most impressive was being named the Championship MVP in the 1980 game.

Since college and as part of the LILC, Bill was a three time member of the USA Lacrosse Team (1978-Alternate, 1982-Goalie, 1986-Alternate). As a co-captain of the USA team, Bill was a member of the 1982 World Championship team that defeated Australia in the summer of 1982 in Baltimore, MD.

As his playing days have ended, he has still remained active with the (now) Long Island Hofstra Lacrosse Club. He has coached the team to 4 Northern regular season titles, being named Coach of the Year twice and most recently coaching his team ti his first National Club Championship this past season (1994)

Bill started two Pro Lacrosse teams & played for both: The NJ Saints (now NY Saints) and the Detroit Turbos. He was a 1993 inductee into the Long Island Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
