Biography

Ron Carner, of New York, NY is a passionate advocate and volunteer for Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel. He is a graduate of Brandeis University and Loyola University School of Law. Carner has been involved with Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel since 1986.

 Currently he is serving as the General Chairman of the USA 18th Maccabiah Organizing Committee (the worlds third largest international sports event) and has continuously served as a member of the USA Maccabiah Organizing Committee since the 13th Maccabiah Games in 1989 including a role as Vice Chairman at the 15th Maccabiah Games in 1997. Carner also was involved with the USA Organizing Committee for the Pan American Maccabi Games since 1995 in Argentina, when he served as the General Chair and most recently as the General Chair for the 10th Pan American Maccabi Games in Chile and as Special Advisor for the 11th Pan American Maccabi Games.

 He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Maccabi USA/Sports for Israel Board of Directors since 1994. Carner was elected as Vice President of Maccabi World Union, Maccabi USAs International Governing Body, in 2004 and continues in that role today. At the present time he is also First Vice-President of Maccabi USA Sports For Israel.

 His interest in sports began as a child where he participated in all the playground sports and played varsity basketball in high school and college.

He continues to enjoy golf, baseball, tennis and running. Carner and his wife Talia reside in Manhattan and Bridgehampton, New York. Together they have four grown children, Melissa, Jonathan, Tomm and Eden and eight grandchildren.
