Biography

An All-Pro guard for the Miami Dolphins from 1981-84, Ed played in three Super Bowls during his thirteen year career with the Dolphins. Ed was known for his work ethic as a player, as well as for his incredible strength - bench pressing 510 pounds, making him the strongest man on the Dolphins.

Ed Newman won All-American honors in football at Duke University in 1971, and was Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestling Champion in 1971 and 1972.

Ed was an athlete who had to overcome severe physical adversity, thyroid cancer surgery in 1975, and knee operations in 1978 and 1982. A third knee surgery led to Edīs retirement following the `85 season.

He is now a judge in Miami, Florida
